The 2021 Maritime Hockey League (MHL) Draft wrapped up this past Saturday afternoon following the selection process of 10 rounds. It was a good day for Island natives, with 13 PEI-born players seeing their names come across the board in this year’s virtual draft. This number includes Stratford’s Cole McKeigan who was the first Islander selected in this year’s draft, by the Grand Falls Rapids in the second round, 14th overall.Â
Last season, PEI saw a total of 16 players get drafted to the Maritime Hockey League.Â
Here is a full list of Island natives who were selected in this years MHL Draft:Â
- Round 2, 14th overall – Cole McKeigan (Stratford, PE), drafted by the Grand Falls Rapids.Â
- Round 2, 17th overall – Sam Bowness (Clyde River, PE), drafted by the Miramichi Timberwolves.
- Round 2, 21st overall – Will Morrison (Charlottetown, PE), drafted by the Campbellton Tigers
- Round 2, 24th overall – Jude Campbell (Mermaid, PE), drafted by the Summerside Western Capitals
- Round 3, 30th overall – Jonah MacDonald (Charlottetown, PE) drafted by the Campbellton Tigers.
- Round 3, 33rd overall – Kiefer Thompson (Summerside, PE) drafted by the Summerside Western Capitals
- Round 5, 49th overall – Max Sentner (Cornwall, PE) drafted by the South Shore Lumberjacks
- Round 5, 56th overall – Brett Arsenault (Charlottetown, PE) drafted by the Grand Falls Rapids.
- Round 5, 57th overall – Cam Squires (Charlottetown, PE) drafted by the Summerside Western Capitals
- Round 7, 81st overall – Caleb MacDonald (Cardigan, PE) drafted by the Summerside Western Capitals
- Round 8, 87th overall – Nathan Mossey (Charlottetown, PE) drafted by the Amherst Ramblers
- Round 9, 105th overall – Harry Clements (High Bank, PE) drafted by the Summerside Western Capitals
- Round 10, 114th overall – Brennan Murphy (Charlottetown, PE) drafted by the Summerside Western Capitals
