Charlottetown, PE – Jarod Colwill has had a wild first year at the helm of Tyne Valley Minor Hockey Association. Jarod began the season by taking on the role of President with the Tyne Valley Minor Hockey Association and subsequently put in many hours of hard work to establish and develop a new board of directors, all while managing the Western Peewee AA Team.

Then, on December 29th, 2019, the community of Tyne Valley lost their beloved rink in a fire. Despite the massive blow to the community and association, Jarod worked tirelessly at making sure his minor hockey players could continue their hockey season. Jarod didn’t stop there; he dove head first into organizing, overseeing, fundraising, and planning towards a new rink for Tyne Valley.

Tyne Valley Minor Hockey continued on seamlessly with the support of neighboring associations and through Jarod’s work in coordinating new ice times and schedules. He continues to work to ensure every member in Tyne Valley has a place to play for the seasons to come.

Further, Jarod’s leadership and support contributed greatly in having Tyne Valley becoming widely known as a top entrant in the Kraft Hockeyville contest, before the contest was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The community’s Rally for the Valley event on January 11th was a huge success, with Tyne Valley Minor Hockey playing an integral role with many players, parents, and volunteers attending wearing Tyne Valley Minor Hockey colors and jerseys.

With Jarod’s effort and dedication, he has displayed for the game of hockey and his home association of Tyne Valley, Hockey PEI is proud to award him with Administrator of the Year.
