Hockey PEI as a member of Hockey Canada has been provided a unique opportunity to send two Bantam ‘A’ aged female players to attend the 2019 IIHF Global Game. The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) is hosting the 2019 Global Girls Game in Calgary, Alberta on February 16, 2019. Started in 2015, the 2019 edition of the Global Game will include 40 countries taking part around the world.
The weekend long game between Team Blue and Team White players will begin on February 15th and make its way west as teams will battle to an aggregate score until the last puck drop in Calgary on February 16th.
The host for the Canadian game is Hockey Alberta and they have invited the member branches of Hockey Canada to participate in this year’s event. Hockey PEI has been provided two roster spots for the event, which are to be determined by Hockey Alberta.
Last season Hockey PEI was represented at the Global Game by Emma Dyer (Summerside) and Rachel Richards (Cornwall).
Hockey PEI is now accepting applications from Bantam aged players who are interested in representing the branch at this year’s event. Travel, meals and accommodations for the two selected players will be covered.
Deadline to apply is January 22, 2019. Interested players must submit an application form and essay. More information regarding the event and application process can be found here:
