CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Hockey PEI’s Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Bradley Sheppard to the role of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Consultant. A role in which Sheppard will work with Hockey PEI’s administration and its membership on creating more awareness surrounding Diversity & Inclusion along with accessible educational programs to better our game both on and off the ice. 

Sheppard, a Nova Scotia native, is the owner of Sheppard Diversity Training, a service which specializes in helping to combat anti-black racism and systemic racism. He has spent nearly 20 years helping people across multiple sectors and has spent the last 10 years learning and teaching on issues such as equity, inclusion, race, class, privilege, unconscious bias, and systemic awareness to name a few.   

To date, Sheppard has put on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion training sessions for Hockey PEI’s High Performance Program athletes at its Summer Selection Camp this past August at Credit Union Place in Summerside. His presentations and discussions were delivered to over 300 players, coaches, and staff.

Bradley is a solution driven person that we are excited to welcome as part of our growing team. He will help shape a more diverse and accepting environment for our athletes and staff and will work with us to deliver more programming to our membership around inclusion, equity and productivity that will in hope, make us all better people and teammates.

Sheppard’s next task as Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Consultant will be attending Hockey PEI’s upcoming President’s Workshop being held from September 16th – 17th. This is where he will get to speak with the leaders of Minor Hockey Associations across PEI and Hockey PEI’s top administrators. 

Throughout the 2022-23 season and beyond, Sheppard will be holding Anti-racism & Education Training, Inclusion, Bias & Awareness Training, and Equity & Inclusion Coaching Sessions to Hockey PEI’s membership.
