CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Summerside’s JP Desrosiers has officially joined Hockey PEI’s Board of Directors this week. He will fill the vacant role of Minor Hockey Council Chairman and ultimately lead and develop a strong council that will provide leadership and governance to the operation of Minor Hockey across Prince Edward Island.
The current Deputy CAO (acting) and Director of Community Services for the City of Summerside has an extensive background with volunteer-driven organizations at the Board of Directors level including previous roles such as President of Explore Summerside, President of Recreation PEI, President of Summerside Accommodations Levy Committee, Board member with Sport PEI, Board member with Event Atlantic and Board member with Boys & Girls Club Summerside to name a few.

Desrosiers holds a degree from UNB and Diploma from Holland College, both in Sport & Recreation Management and has a diverse background in acting as chairman for high-profile sporting events including but not limited to, the 2009 World Jr. A Challenge, the 2012 Hockey Day in Canada event, the 2013 RBC Cup (Jr. A), and the 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Roles which will complement Desrosiers well in his new volunteer role with Hockey PEI.
