CHARLOTTETOWN – Hockey PEI is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Hedefine as the new Commissioner of the Razzy’s Junior C Hockey League. Hedefine takes over for Jared Doucette, who stepped down this Spring after spending the last 10+ seasons at the helm of the League.

Doucette was integral in advancing the League’s long-term sustainability and status among Junior players and fans, and has spent countless hours building the League’s marketing efforts through website design and sponsorships. Along with his efforts as Commissioner, Doucette also focused his time as a statistician for many other Hockey PEI Leagues throughout the years. Hockey PEI thanks Jared for his contribution to the game in PEI, and wishes him and his family all the best moving forward.

Hedefine, a Charlottetown-native and Team & Corporate Sales Associate at Source for Sports in Charlottetown, is already an active volunteer within the Hockey PEI community.

Hedefine spent the past two season as an Assistant Coach with the Central Attack U15 AAA squad, having won multiple tournament championships, as well as a Provincial title and Atlantic silver medal in 2019. He previously spent time as a U13 AAA Assistant Coach with Charlottetown, and Head Coach of the North River U13 AA. Hedefine also served as Assistant Coach on the U15 provincial team that won silver at the ACC last October.

Hedefine is a former athlete and Junior C player himself, having last geared up for the Junior C North River Flames.

“While we will certainly miss Jared’s regular contribution to hockey leagues here on the Island and wish him all the best, we’re excited to have Chris’ energy and passion for hockey in the role of Commissioner. Chris practically lives in the rink, truly cares about the future of the game and the Junior C league here on PEI, and we know he’s going to excel in this new role.” – Cliff Affleck, Hockey PEI Junior Council Chair.

The Junior C League will be hosting a League meeting in September.
