CHARLOTTETOWN, PE –
The search is over for the next Commissioner of the Island Junior Hockey League (IJHL). Hockey PEI is pleased to announce the appointment of Jordan Ellis as the league’s next leader.
Ellis, a Summerside native, is no stranger to the sports industry and comes to the league with a wealth of knowledge of both the on and off ice activities of the game.
Currently serving as the Director of Marketing and Play-by-Play for the Summerside Western Capitals of the Maritime Hockey League (MHL), this will be Jordan’s 6th season in the league where he also assists with team sponsorship. He is a level 3 hockey official, and was a member of Hockey PEI’s senior body of officials for 3 seasons. In 2017-2018, Ellis served as team Governor for the Capitals, which included attending Board of Governors meetings and representing the team at the MHL’s Annual General Meeting.
As a player, Jordan played as high as Bantam “AAA” as a goaltender, before becoming a full-time official during his high school and university years. Most recently, Ellis worked on Team PEI’s Mission Staff at the 2019 Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta as the Communications Lead. He also could be found working at this year’s Don Johnson Cup as a broadcaster while taking care of the event’s social media channels.
“We’re excited to bring Jordan into a leadership role with the IJHL. He has a wealth of knowledge of Junior hockey, as well as a successful history in marketing and sponsorship, and we believe he’s the perfect energy for this league right now.” – Cliff Affleck, Hockey PEI Junior Council Chair.
