Charlottetown – Hockey PEI officially announced the female players whom will play for Team PEI at the 2019 Canada Winter Games from February 15 to March 3, 2019 in Red Deer, AB.
The selection of the team began in 2016, through a variety of camps and events. The team used the recent Atlantic Challenge Cup in Moncton, NB to make their final team selections.
“After an extensive process, we are pleased to make our final selections for Team PEI and now turn our focus to the Canada Games tournament in Red Deer in February”, stated head coach Chris Harkness. “The players and staff are excited about the opportunity and look forward to a great event”.
The female team which will compete in week two (February 24 to March 2nd) is in a pool with Newfoundland/Labrador, Northwest Territories and Yukon.
“On behalf of Hockey PEI we extend congratulations to all the players selected and wish them the best of luck. We trust you will enjoy this unique experience and we know that you will represent our province with pride”, Hockey PEI President Mike Hammill.
