This award is presented to a deserving female player whom has excelled both on and off the ice.  The ideal candidate should demonstrate qualities of hard work, sportsmanship, team commitment and fair play.  This award is not merely based on goals and assist, but a combination of the extra attributes that make her a quality player for her team.

Charlottetown, PE – This year’s Female Player of the Year is Mid Isle Wildcats Midget AAA’s Sarah MacEachern, from Canoe Cove, PE. Sarah’s skating and mobility allow her to compete as a top defender on her team and contribute to her offensive success. She can be described as honest, hardworking, and positive, on and off the ice.

Sarah recently represented the province as part of Team PEI during the 2019 Canada Winter Games and also earned a spot on Team Atlantic to play at the National U18 Championships. Sarah achieved both her spots on these teams as an underage player which is highly impressive and a testament to her competitive nature and ability.

Her other achievements include the Fittest Play Award at the Team Atlantic Summer Camp, and she was recently named to the Canadian National U18 Team Summer Camp.

This season with the Mid Isle Wildcats Sarah was an impact player for her team and one of the top players in the PEI Female Midget AAA League; she was named to the All Star Team and was named the League’s top defence. Sarah has established herself as one of the best young hockey players in Atlantic Canada and Hockey PEI is proud to present her with the award of Female Player of the Year.
