CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Yesterday, the Chief Public Health Office (CPHO) imposed temporary Public Health restrictions that came into effect today, Saturday, December 18th, until Saturday, January 8th, 2022.
That announcement outlined that all Hockey PEI Minor Hockey sanctioned activities for U7 to U18 levels including practices, games, and any team events (on and off the ice) have been paused. This includes all Hockey PEI High Performance Program activities.
While the CPHO continues to deliberate over the status of the PEI Junior “C” Hockey League and the Island Junior “B” Hockey League, all activities are paused for those leagues until further notice. Hockey PEI will advise its members once a decision has been made.
*Additionally, as of today, U18 players will not be permitted to Affiliate with ANY Junior league until the current public health restrictions are lifted on January 8th.
The MHL (Jr. A) and QMJHL (Major Jr.) are exempt from the current pause and may continue with activities with added public health measures in effect.
Please continue to follow all Public Health guidance, stay safe and be well.
