CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Hockey PEI’s High Performance Program had a busy month of May following two seasons of COVID-19 operational challenges. The HP Program completed its Spring Camps for both Female and Male athletes at the U14, U15, U16 and U18 levels which took place at Credit Union Place in Summerside. These camps also featured group tryouts and training for the Canada Winter Games process.

The slate of HP programming continued this past weekend where the HPP Goaltender Development Camp was held in Cornwall at the APM Centre.

A total of 30 goaltenders took part in the High Performance weekend dedicated strictly to goalie development.

“This past weekend, we invited our HPP goaltenders out for a development camp. In these dedicated goalie camps, we can focus on our small skills and play-reading abilities. Often, being from a small province can be seen as a hindrance to development. However, I firmly believe we are very fortunate to be a small province. Our small numbers partnered with excellent coaches allow us to make great strides in developing the goaltending position.”

Nelson MacAulay, Hockey PEI Goaltending Consultant.

The next set of High Performance athlete programming is scheduled for August with the Summer Selection Camps.
