HISTORY AND VALUES
As the governing body for organized hockey in the Province of Prince Edward Island, Hockey PEI’s main purpose is to foster, promote, develop, supervise, regulate and govern the sport of amateur hockey. We encourage competition on both a competitive and recreational level for those who enjoy hockey for the sportsmanship, skill, and enjoyment it can provide.
Formed in 1975, Hockey PEI operates under the democratic council system whereby all members have a voice in the operation of the provincial body through their respective councils. Hockey PEI is structured with five councils:

-
Minor Hockey Council
-
Female Hockey Council
-
Development Council
-
Senior / Junior Hockey Council
-
Officiating Committee

Hockey PEI is a member of Hockey Canada and as such takes an active part in setting national policy. With a membership of approximately 8,000, Hockey PEI is responsible for hockey skills development programs, the promotion and formation of teams and leagues, regulating competition, establishing uniform playing rules and to regulate the registration and certification of players, referee’s and team officials.

Hockey PEI as the representative of amateur hockey throughout the province, serves as a unifying voice in dealing with governments and private agencies in promoting the cause of hockey.
