CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Hockey PEI is pleased to announce its new Manager of Officiating, Steven Green of Borden PEI.

As the Manager of Officiating, Green will be tasked with overseeing all matters of the branch’s officiating including but not limited to, working with Minor Hockey Association Referee in Chiefs, providing the necessary clarifications and resources to officials, monitoring playing rules, and overseeing the advancement and development of all Hockey PEI officials.

We are very much looking forward to having Steven at the helm of our Officiating Committee. This is a challenging role with many moving parts, but we know Steven will get to work right away on looking to improve the overall officiating department by leading, developing, and promoting positive hockey experiences through officiating

– Hockey PEI President, Al MacIsaac

Green’s background comes with no lack of officiating experience. Having officiated for 25 years, Green has also been an active Officials supervisor on PEI for 12 years before taking on the role of Member of Large for the former PEI Hockey Referees Association (PEIHRA). He then moved up on the PEIHRA executive to handle the responsibilities of Vice-Chair and most recently has been serving on Hockey PEI’s Officiating Committee as Director of Supervision for the past 3 years.

Furthermore, during his time on the ice, Green has had the opportunity to officiate at various Atlantic and National Championships, including the Royal Bank Cup (National Jr. A Championship), the Fred Page Cup, the Don Johnston Cup, The Maritime North Junior Championship and the U18 AAA Male Atlantics to name a few.

The Hockey PEI Management Committee completed its annual review on the Officiating Committee in June and subsequently, the remaining appointments of the Officiating Committee members will be released in the coming weeks following the interview process.

Hockey PEI would like to thank the outgoing Manager of Officiating, Paul Matte for his work and dedication over the past 3 seasons and wishes him all the best.
