CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Hockey PEI is proud to announce its newest Minor Council member, Valerie Stewart. The Maplewood PEI native will fill the vacancy of Director of Female Hockey and take over the portfolio following the departure of Jen MacDonald. 


Stewart has been a Minor Hockey volunteer for the past 6 years with various associations and zones including North River Minor Hockey Association, Gulf Storm, Southside Minor Hockey Association, and the Mid-Isle Wildcats. During her time, she acted in various positions including Team Manager, Trainer, Division Coordinator, Female Representative, Secretary, and Board Member.

She has a strong background volunteering in Minor Hockey and is a great advocate of the female game here on PEI. Stewart has two daughters currently enrolled in hockey at the U11 (Jessie) and U13  (Janetta) levels both playing for the Mid-Isle Wildcats this season. She is currently employed with Veteran Affairs Canada working as the Manager of Program Innovation and has been employed in the Federal Public Service for the last 22 years. 


The new Director of Female Hockey will begin her role immediately with some of her initial tasks being focused around implementing the Hockey PEI female 5-year plan that was developed under the previous Director, Jen MacDonald, and council.
