CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Hockey PEI fully supports Hockey Canada’s recent decision to allow its Members to independently sanction hockey activity in accordance with Hockey Canada Return to Hockey Safety Guidelines along with that member’s Provincial Health Authority.

The Hockey PEI Board of Directors has struck a provincial Return to Hockey Task Team, which will utilize the Hockey Canada Safety Guidelines and, in conjunction with PEI’s Chief Public Health Office Guidelines, will determine in the coming weeks how we can participate in Hockey in Prince Edward Island this upcoming season.

We want to reiterate that it is not important to be the first on the ice, but it is important to be right in the measures we take when we do return. With that in mind, we are not yet sanctioning on-ice activities in Prince Edward Island.

Off-ice activities (e.g. equipment collection) can now be resumed, so long as the activities follow the Chief Public Health Office’s directives and an Operational Plan around those activities are submitted to Hockey PEI.

It is likely Hockey will not look the same this winter as it has in the past, but we are confident that we can provide the opportunity for our members to continue playing the sport we all love, safely.

We look forward to seeing you on the ice in the near future.
