CHARLOTTETOWN – The Hockey PEI High-Performance Program (HPP) management group is excited to announce the invitees who will take part in the 2019 U16 male Christmas camp which will take place at the APM Centre in Cornwall, PEI on Monday, December 23rd.
The invite-only camp is an opportunity for players to gain extra development and ice time over the Christmas break while also aiding the HPP management group in identifying the players who will represent Hockey PEI at the 2020 Gatorade Excellence Challenge in Boisbriand, Quebec this upcoming April. Eligible players have also been and will continue to be scouted during their regular season play from the respective leagues.
A total of 44 Hockey PEI players from both the Midget “AAA” and Major Midget Hockey levels have been selected to attend this camp. The camp has also opened its doors to 10-underage players who currently play at the Major Bantam level. These players are not eligible to be named to the final roster but have been given an early opportunity to experience how the process works for this event.
The schedule of events for the December 23rd U16 Male Camp are as follows:
The camp will have players split into two teams (Team White & Team Black) and will include both on-ice and off-ice activities. The camp is open to the public and the game featuring U16 Team White versus U16 Team Black can be seen free of charge at the APM Centre.
Here are the 44 players who have been selected to attend the U16 Male Christmas Camp:
Please note, Cameron MacLean of Stanstead College was selected for the Camp, but unable to attend, therefore being granted special consideration. MacLean will remain eligible for final roster selections.
The Camp will be led by Hockey PEI’s Technical Director and HPP Coordinator, Connor Cameron with the help of various HPP instructors who have been involved with the program over the past several seasons. The Coaching Staff for this U16 Male team that will attend the Gatorade Excellence Challenge in April has not yet been named. Support staff for the event is also in the process of being finalized.
Hockey PEI wishes to congratulate all players on their selection to this camp and wishes them all the best as they continue their hockey development within the HP Program.
