CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The 2020 Major U18 Hockey League Showcase that was scheduled to take place this weekend in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island has been postponed. The Leagues decision was made early this evening following further New Brunswick Government COVID-19 alert level changes. All teams have been notified.

It was announced earlier today that the Moncton Major U18 Flyers would no longer be able to compete at this year’s showcase due to the Moncton area (Zone 1) being moved to an Orange level alert with nonessential travel being prohibited. The Showcase schedule was altered in hopes that it could continue with the remaining league teams, however, the N.B government announced further COVID-19 restrictions, specifically to Zone 2 (Saint John area) where the Saint John Major U18 Vito’s are located. It was then decided that it was in the leagues best interest to postpone this weekend’s showcase plans.

“As disappointing as this is, we feel it is important to have all our teams within the league present to showcase their talent and take part in this event. We also have to keep the health and safety of all our members in mind during these challenging times. We are exploring holding this year’s showcase in the near future when it is appropriate and safe to do so following the guidance of our two working Governments.” – NB/PEI Major U18 League President, Barry Thompson

The Showcase was scheduled to take place this weekend from November 21st-22nd at the Bell Aliant Centre in Charlottetown.
