Islanders Attend NHL Main Training Camps

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – After National Hockey League Rookie / Prospects Camps finished up last week, it was time for NHL teams to start making the final list of players who would join the veterans at Main Training Camps across the league.

Prince Edward Island had six individuals who attended a NHL Rookie/Prospect Camp this year. Read related article: Rookie/Prospect Camps.

Here is a look at the Islanders who attended NHL Main Camps this season:

Ross Johnston – New York Islanders – Camp Invitee. Hometown: Charlottetown, PEI
Ryan MacKinnon – New York Islanders – Camp Invitee. Hometown: Summerside, PEI
Noah Dobson – New York Islanders – Drafted, 2018.  Hometown: Summerside, PEI
Jeremy McKenna – Calgary Flames – Camp Invitee. Hometown: Summerside, PEI
Alex Gallant – Calgary Flames – Camp Invitee. Hometown: Summerside, PEI
Thomas Casey – Detroit Red Wings – Camp Invitee. Hometown: Charlottetown, PEI
Josh Currie – Edmonton Oilers – Camp Invitee. Hometown: Charlottetown, PEI
Brett Gallant – Columbus Blue Jackets – Camp Invitee. Hometown: Summerside, PEI
Jordan Spence – LA Kings – Drafted, 2019 – 95th Overall. Hometown: Cornwall, PEI
Zack MacKewen – Vancouver Canucks – Camp Invitee. Hometown: Charlottetown, PEI

While ten (10) Islanders in total attended NHL Main Training Camps this season, one (1) notable Islander remains without a contract for the upcoming season. PEI native Adam McQuaid is one of the most experienced current unrestricted Free Agents still available, but he experienced a season-ending concussion during the 2018/2019 season and remains on the market. Some players listed above have already been returned to their club team, while some still remain in the mix at camp.
