CHARLOTTETOWN, PE - The 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge Host Committee, along with the cities of Charlottetown and Summerside, are excited to announce they have entered into a partnership with Cavendish Farms that will see every minor hockey player across Prince Edward Island receive a tournament pass (excluding the bronze and gold medal game) for the prestigious international hockey event. The 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will take place between November 2 and 11.
“Hockey brings people together across PEI as local arenas are also often the community gathering place,” said Robert K. Irving, President of Cavendish Farms. “We want to ensure minor hockey players get a chance to watch world-class hockey and see future hockey stars right here at home.”
The 6-team tournament featuring the top NHL prospects for the 2024 entry draft from Team Canada Red, Team Canada White, Czechia, Finland, Sweden, and USA face off in a 22-game schedule between the Credit Union Place in Summerside and Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.
“As a Host Committee, getting the kids through the door was always one of our top priorities for an event like this,” added Co-Chairman, Tanner Doiron. “We are so thankful for Cavendish Farms in stepping up and helping make this a reality for young aspiring hockey players across our Island.”
The 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge Host Committee and Hockey PEI will be working with minor hockey associations in the coming days to ensure the distribution of tournament passes to all players. Players can use their tournament pass at the onsite box office at either venue to redeem for the games they are attending (excluding bronze and gold medal games). The guarantee of a ticket will be based on ticket inventory on a first come, first served basis. The adult guardian accompanying their child will need to purchase their game ticket.
"Cavendish Farms has a long history of supporting communities and organizations in multiple ways,” said Breanne Ferris, manager of events with Hockey Canada. “We are extremely appreciative for their sponsorship of the 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, ensuring every minor hockey player will have the opportunity to watch and cheer on some of the best young hockey players in the world."
