The President’s Award is selected on an annual basis by the President of Hockey PEI and the award is given to an individual who, in the opinion of the selector, has made a remarkable contribution and has provided outstanding service to amateur hockey throughout PEI for many years.

Charlottetown, PE – This year’s President’s Award is presented to Nicole Morrissey, a very familiar face in the Hockey PEI community.

Nicole, who lives in Tignish with her husband Paul, has been involved in minor hockey on many levels over the past 15 years: as a mother to two sons, managing their teams and following their progress at many levels, volunteering for six years as treasurer of Tignish Minor hockey, spending the past eight years on Hockey PEI’s Minor Council as Atom Director (now U11), coordinating both male and female divisions as well as coordinating up to 4 leagues per season.

Nicole has been a tireless volunteer, a supporter of Western PEI, and minor hockey throughout the province. Nicole sat on various committees on Minor Council and always brought a calm, reasonable approach to issues when decisions were made. Also during her years in minor hockey, Nicole found time to volunteer for Tignish Home and School Association, spending 5 years as President.

Earlier this spring, Nicole stepped down from her role with Hockey PEI. As President, I would like to thank Nicole for the many hours she has given us volunteering and supporting minor hockey players throughout the province. It is volunteers like Nicole that keep our minor hockey system working efficiently. We at Hockey PEI wish Nicole all the best in whatever the futures holds for her.
