Hockey PEI Staff | Sept 1st, 2021

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The Southside Minor Hockey Association and Bedeque and Area Minor Hockey Associations are pleased to announce they are entering into a two year trial partnership effective Sept 1, 2021. Over the past several years both associations have worked together to ensure kids within our zones have a place to play hockey at the recreational boys and girls levels.  Through this partnership, we will reduce administrative burden, create more certainty for players/parents, and leverage the strengths of both associations to provide a positive and safe environment for players, officials and volunteers.

What changes can we expect for the next two years?

  • All players located in the current Southside and Bedeque zones will register under Southside Minor Hockey.
  • In person registrations will be held in both Borden and Bedeque.
  • All 3 facilities will be utilized by Southside Minor Hockey:
    • South Shore Actiplex
    • Gateway Arena
    • Bedeque and Area Rec Centre
  • In the event of multiple teams at the same level, teams will be initially divided by geography (numbers dependant):
    • Kinkora/Bedeque
    • Crapaud/Borden
  • In the event of high numbers on a single team, players will be asked on a volunteer basis to either change levels or associations for the season.

The Board of Directors for both associations feel this two year partnership is a step in a positive direction and we look forward to working cooperatively and with transparency to achieve common goals. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to members of either association.
