Camp will take place May 4-7 at the Bell Aliant Centre

The Mark’s Program of Excellence (POE) Spring Camp is set to be held May 4-7 at the Bell Aliant Centre on the UPEI Campus in Charlottetown.  The camp will see Male Under 14 & 15 and Female Under 14 & 17 take place on the same weekend.  This year’s Female Spring Camp features U17 & U14 in order to have all eligible Canada Winter Games aged girls at the Spring Camp.  Groups will revert back to U16 & U18 for the Summer Camp.

U15 Male Players born in 2003 or later and U17 female players born in 2001 or later are eligible for the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta.  The 2019 Canada Winter Games Coaching staffs for both male and female teams will lead their respective age groups at the Spring Camp.

The POE, organized by Hockey PEI, the Development Council and its designated Coordinators, is used to identify the provinces best hockey players.

The Spring camps will accept a maximum of eighty (80) players at each group; Male Under 14 (born 2004), Male U15 (born 2003), Female U14 (born 2004, 2005) & Female U17 (born 2001, 2002 & 2003). Registrations are on a “first come, first serve” basis and are open to all male and female players who meet the age criteria in Prince Edward Island.  The fee for the Spring Camp is $120.00 and the deadline to register is March 24, 2017.

Up to forty-five players from each group will be identified and selected to attend the POE Summer Camp in August.  From here players will be identified and selected to form the teams which will represent the province at the Atlantic Challenge Cup to be held in Moncton, New Brunswick, Thanksgiving weekend.

U18 Female (born 2000) age groups will not take part in the Spring camp. This age group will have an invite only camp in August. Invites for these camps will be sent out in late May.

U16 Male (born 2002) will have an invite only camp over the Christmas Break.  Invites for that camp will go out in early December.

The POE provides players and staff with an opportunity to develop, learn and challenge themselves as they strive for excellence.

Both the male and female groups are looking for interested coaches to assist with the upcoming camps.  Those interested in evaluating at the Spring Camp, who have a minimum NCCP Coach 2 – Coach Level certification & Respect in Sport are asked to submit their interest to the Hockey PEI Office.
