SUBJECT: EASE OF FACILITY COHORT RESTRICTIONS UPDATE

The CPHO announced new ease of restrictions on organized sports gatherings to take effect on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021, at 8:00 AM. The ease of restrictions included a change to cohort restrictions which increases the maximum number of cohorts permitted inside a facility at one time from three (3) to four (4) where approved. As per the Chief Public Health Office’s update, organized recreational and team sports may resume following the organized gathering limits, with enhanced attention to records for contact tracing. Organized gathering limits now includes:

 

  • Organized gatherings limits, such as organized sports, can continue to operate with a total of 50 people, but can now have up to three additional groups of 50 people (up to 200 total) with an approved operational plan. Only those facilities that had an approved operational plan of four (4) cohorts prior to restrictions being put in place can resume with that amount immediately on the 23rd. Other facilities seeking approval of an additional cohort are to contact CPHO directly before adjusting their facility operations.

There are no further changes to note as it relates to organized sports such as hockey at this time. Hockey PEI will continue to update its members when able to do so. We wish all members a safe and fun weekend at the rink.
