HOCKEY PEI MEMORANDUM

TO: HOCKEY PEI MEMBERSHIP

DATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 19th, 2021

SUBJECT: UPDATE REGARDING NEW CASES OF COVID-19 ON PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Heather Morrison, has announced four new positive cases of COVID-19 in Prince Edward Island today.

A close contact of one of the positive cases is a male under the age of 19 and has also tested positive. This individual was involved in minor sport activities. Close contacts (eg: teammates, coaching staff) are being contacted by public health, will be asked to go get tested and will need to self-isolate immediately, so they will not be participating in any sport activities this weekend. If any public exposure notifications are required after a further risk assessment, they will be released as soon as possible by the CPHO.

The 2020-21 Provincial Championships are currently on-going and necessary changes to the schedule will be made. Hockey PEI will continue to work closely with the CPHO and take recommendations and directions from their office.

As always, our members are urged to get tested if they experience any symptoms of COVID-19 and are reminded of the importance to follow provincial guidelines and Hockey PEI’s Return to Hockey Plans.
